CUTTING REQUIREMENTS:

• Cut garden background fabric 11" square
• Cut one each of background fabric and batting 16" square
• Cut 4 strips of narrow accent border 1" x 12"
• Cut 4 strips of wide border 2 ½" x 16"
• Cut 2 strips of binding fabric 2 ½ x 42" and piece together to make one long strip.

1. Quick fuse appliqué pieces onto the RS of your background fabric in the following order:
   • Lady: fingers, castanets, neck, barrette, face; fuse bottom edge only - right eye, hair; slipping left side under face, left eye, lips, back sleeve ruffles, inner sleeves, arms, dress and remainder of ruffles.
   • Man: hands, cuffs, cummerbund, pants, face & hair; fuse bottom edges only - hat crown, slip brim behind the upper edges of the face and hair, shirt collar, jacket collar, jacket.
2. When everything is in place, press completely.
3. Using 1 strand of brown embroidery floss, make 1 long stitch for each lady's nose.
4. Using black thread, machine satin stitch lady's eyebrows and just under each eye for eyeliner. French knot eyes under the eyeliner or use a small machine satin stitch. Machine satin stitch man's eye. Satin stitch around all other appliqué pieces using matching thread.
5. Continue under general instructions - TRIMMING YOUR BLOCK.
