- Fold fabric in half to make a square; trim the edge
opposite the fold. Trimmed piece will be used for ties.
- Cut out the neckline approximately 5-6” in from the
folded corner. Finish neck edge with narrow hem or seam binding.
- Cut out a 4” square from the corner opposite the
neckline corner.
- To make fringe along the bottom edges, make cuts 4’
deep, spaced 1” apart. Tie each fringe strip in a knot, positioning
the knot as close to the edge of the poncho as possible. Take care not
to tie too tightly to avoid puckering the edge fo the poncho.
- Cut (5) 1” x 6” strips for the side ties. On the
side, puncture small holes (X marks) through both layers with the
point of the scissors. String one tie through each hole and tie each
in a single knot.
