  1. Fold the green paisley accent strips in half lengthwise. Press.
  2. Cross cut into (4) 10-1/2" strips and (4) 15-1/2" strips.
  3. With the raw edges matching, place the 10-1/2" accent strips over the center section
    along the sides. Pin.
  4. As above, place (2) 15-1/2" accent strips along the top and bottom edges. Pin.
  5. Cut the 2" wide green check strips into (4) 13-1/2" strips and (4) 15-1/2" strips.
  6. With right sides together, place one 15-1/2" strip over the accent strip along the top edge.
Pin, sew through all layers along the raw edge with a 1/4" seam allowance. Repeat for bottom edge.
  7. Sew the two 13-1/2" strips on the two vertical sides in the same manner. Press the seams open.
  8. With the right sides facing out, layer the back, batting and pieced top. Pin.
  9.  Join binding strips and bind placemat with the 2" wide floral strips.
  10. Repeat for the second placemat.

Square Bowl
  • (1) fat quarter Ivory Ground Floral - Cut (1) 16" square and (1) 5" square.
  • (1) fat quarter Green Gingham - Cut (1) 16" square and (1) 5" square
  • (1) 16" square stiff double-side fusible craft interfacing
  • Coordinating or contrasting thread
  1. Apply interfacing to the wrong side of each fabric square, following manufacturer’s fusing instructions.
  2. Find and mark the center by drawing a cross on the layered square.
  3. With right side up, center the contrasting 5" fabric square on this square.
  4. Stitch very close to the raw edges of the small square.
  5. Turn bowl over and place the remaining 5" square over the stitching lines. Pin, or secure with fusible tape.
  6. Satin stitch around the raw edges of the small square through all layers.
  7. On the top side at the outer edges, mark 1/2" on both sides of the crossed lines.
  8. Draw a line from the marks at one side to 1/4" from the outer corner of the center fabric square. (Diag. 1.)
  9. Carefully cut one wedge along the drawn lines.
  10. Satin stitch from the corner of the square, while gently pulling the cut sides of the wedge together, forming a dart.
  11. Repeat steps 8 and 9 for the remaining 3 corners.
  12. With a slightly wider stitch width, satin stitch over all the seams. If desired, add zigzag stitching diagonally from each corner of the bowl to the center fabric square.
  13. Satin stitch over the top edge of the square. Repeat to thoroughly cover the edge with satin stitching.

Table Topper
  • 12” squares of (9) assorted prints

  • 3/8-yard Brown paisley - Cut (4) 2" wide strips x width of fabric for binding
  • Batting, lightweight - Cut (1) 30" square
  1. Join the 12” blocks as desired to create a nine-patch table topper. Cut backing fabric to the same size.
  2. With right sides facing out, layer the backing, batting and top fabrics.
  3. Stitch-in-the-ditch along all nin-patch seams, starting from the center and working out. Repeat sewing diagonally from corner to corner, or as desired.
  4. Trim the edges evenly.
  5. Join the 2" wide brown paisley strips, and bind the edges.

Napkins (yields two napkins)
  • 1/2 yard Rose Gingham
  • 1/4 yard Brown Ground Floral (allows yardage to fussy cut floral motifs as desired)
  1. Cut two 18" squares from the rose gingham.
  2. Cut one 9" square from the floral flannel; cross-cut once diagonally to form two “accent” triangles.
NOTE: Consider fussy-cutting the triangles to highlight a larger floral section if desired.
  3. With right sides together, place one accent triangle on the 18" square so that it lines up along the corner of the napkin and the sharp corners of the triangle overlap 3/8" over the edge, forming the seam allowance.
  4. Sew a 1/4" seam along the raw edge of the accent triangle.
  5. Fold the accent triangle so the right side shows to check its placement.
  6. If the placement is satisfactory, trim away the napkin fabric from underneath the triangle. Press. Hem the raw edges.
  7. Repeat steps 3 - 6 for the second napkin. Fold napkins to accentuate the floral corners.
