- Cut (1) 2 in strip from each of 9
different print fabrics; cut strips in half lengthwise for
easier handling. Sew strips together lengthwise and press.
- Cut block in half on a 45-degree angle.
Then cut into (4) strips measuring 2-1/2 inch wide and (2)
strips measuring 2 inches wide. Cut one end square then
cut each one the same way, so they will line up at the
bottom.
- Cut from the dark print (4) strips 1-1/2
inches wide. Join dark print strips in between the
diagonally pieced sections, placing the 4 2-1/2 in strips
together and a 2-inch strip at each end. Make 2 of these
sections.
- Trim to about 11 x 16. Sew a 2-1/2 inch
strip to the top and bottom. Layer with batting and quilt
as desired.
- For the straps: Cut batting 2-1/2 inches
wide x 32 inches long. Cut (2) strips from the dark print
fabric measuring 3 inches wide x 32 inches long. Fold to
encase the batting and sew along each edge. Repeat for
second strap. Pin the straps to the top of the bag.
- For the lining: Cut the same sizes as the
front and the back. Add pockets to lining if desired. Cut
a 2-inch section at the lower corners of the bag and
lining. (Fig. 1) Sew lining to the top edge of each
section. Pin and sew each side, leaving an opening for
turning. Sew the corner sections. (Fig. 2) Turn right side
out. Stitch along the top band. Sew the sides and bottom
if desired.
