  • 1-22" X 33"-batting
  • 2-6" x 29½"-vinyl for pockets**
  • 1-5" x 29½"-vinyl for pockets
  • 1-4" x 29½"-vinyl for pockets

**Vinyl can be cut to different heights to further customize the pocket sizes to suit your needs.

Instructions
  1. Layer the batting between the two 22" fabrics and machine baste together.
  2. Use any type of circle to round off corners on all sides.
  3. View 1Mark all vinyl pieces as shown in View 1. Make small nips in seam allowance to mark placements.
  4. To make pleats in vinyl pockets, on the outside bring solid lines to dotted lines. Baste in place at the bottom only.
Hint: Use a Teflon foot to sew on vinyl. If a Teflon foot is not available, use the tissue paper in which the vinyl was sold. You can sew with the tissue underneath the vinyl, on top of the vinyl or with the vinyl sandwiched between two sheets of tissue paper. Test to find which works best with your machine. View 2
  5. View 2Fold bias strips to make double folded. Press. Apply binding to the lower edges of all pockets covering the previous basting stitch.

  6. Open out pleats at the upper edge and apply binding.
  7. Position the first 6" pocket so that the pocket lower edge is 2" from the lower edge of organizer. Each pocket hereafter is placed 2" above the preceding one. Pocket heights as shown, from the bottom up, measure 6", 6" 5" and 4". Edge-stitch each in place through the binding along the lower edges.
  8. To make hanging tabs fold 22½" x 3½" fabric strip lengthwise, right sides together. Stitch, to form a tube, and turn right side out. Center the seam and press flat. Cut into 3 equal tabs, folding each tab in half lengthwise. At the top of organizer pin the raw edges of a tab 2" from each edge, with the rest of the tab hanging downward. Center the third tab between the two in the same fashion. Baste by hand or machine.
  9. Apply binding around organizer edges. To join binding, turn under one end and lap over the other.
  10. Press tabs up (Be careful not to touch vinyl with iron.) Stitch over the binding stitching at the tabs to hold them in place.
